In "Of Loss and Lavender," two Iraqi men navigate the challenges of starting anew in the United States after the Gulf War. Sami, a retired doctor grappling with dementia, reflects on his past life in Iraq while living in Brooklyn with his family. Conversely, Omar, a disgraced deserter escaping Baghdad, adopts a false identity and takes on various jobs, all while dreaming of reclaiming his dignity through reconstructive surgery.
