Max Stark, a trained circus clown with a knack for terrifying tricks, re-enters the life of his ex-wife, news anchor Laura Stark, through a series of sinister pranks. Believing Max is intent on disrupting her world, she seeks help from quirky private investigators Paul Chang, a tough ex-cop, and his seemingly clairvoyant partner, Nelson Rogers. As Laura's investigative reporting unravels dangerous connections involving the mob and city officials, Chang and Nelson race against time to thwart Max's potentially catastrophic plans for the city.
