The Book of Jubilees, composed in Hebrew by a Pharisee between 135 and 105 BC, presents an interpretation of biblical history from creation to the giving of the law at Sinai, reflecting the Pharisaic perspective of its time. Written in response to the challenges posed by the Hellenistic influence, the author aims to defend Judaism and affirm the everlasting validity of the law.
