The Fortune of War

In this gripping naval adventure, H.M.S. Leopard arrives in Pulo Batang after a harrowing voyage filled with illness and close encounters, leaving Captain Jack Aubrey eager to return home. The journey aboard La Fleche begins pleasantly, but as they approach Brazil, disaster strikes with an accidental fire that forces the crew into lifeboats. Rescued by the Java, they soon encounter further peril when the Java engages the U.S.S. Constitution in battle, leading to Aubrey's capture as a prisoner of war in Boston, while his friend Stephen Maturin reestablishes a connection with the enigmatic Diana Villiers.
