Cuba in My Pocket

In the aftermath of the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion, twelve-year-old Cumba is sent alone from Cuba to Florida, facing the daunting reality of life in a foreign country. As he grapples with loneliness and the memories of his family, he must adapt to a new city and school while finding his place among English speakers. Though he gradually builds confidence, the longing for his family remains, leaving him to ponder if they will ever be reunited across the ninety miles of ocean that separate them.
