Discover how Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso, known to the world as Celia Cruz, transformed from a working-class girl in Cuba into a symbol of artistic freedom and the "Queen of Salsa." Starting her career in the 1950s with the Cuban band Sonora Matancera, her powerful voice and vibrant performances captivated audiences globally. After being exiled from Cuba due to Fidel Castro's regime, Celia used her music to celebrate her homeland and rose to fame as an award-winning artist, becoming one of the most beloved Latin musicians of the twentieth century.
