A Trace of Smoke

In 1931 Berlin, crime reporter Hannah Vogel navigates a society teetering on the edge of turmoil while disguising her identity under the male pseudonym Peter Weill. As she investigates the mysterious death of her brother, a cross-dressing cabaret star entangled in scandal, her life becomes further complicated when a young orphan appears claiming he is her son. Amid the backdrop of rising Nazi power and personal danger, Hannah grapples with her feelings for Boris Krause, a powerful banker, while striving to protect both herself and the child who has come to depend on her.
