Jasmine Toguchi, Mochi Queen

In the first installment of a new chapter-book series, young Japanese American heroine Jasmine Toguchi grapples with sibling rivalry and her desire to prove herself. At eight years old, Jasmine is determined to break the norm and participate in the family’s New Year celebration by helping the men pound mochi rice, a task traditionally reserved for boys.
