The Draining Lake

In the aftermath of an earthquake, a lake in Iceland reveals the long-buried skeleton of a man, complete with a large hole in his skull and a mysterious Russian-inscribed communication device. As detectives Erlendur, Elinborg, and Sigurdur Olii investigate the grisly discovery, their inquiry uncovers links to the Cold War era and the journeys of left-wing Icelandic students to communist East Germany.
