An Unkindness of Ghosts

In the low-deck slums of the HSS Matilda, Aster, an odd and reserved individual often labeled as an ogre, grapples with her identity and the oppressive societal structures surrounding her. As the ship, a microcosm of the antebellum South, transports humanity towards a mythical Promised Land, Aster uncovers a connection between the mysterious death of the sovereign and her mother’s tragic past. Driven by a desire for freedom and justice, she confronts entrenched power dynamics and ignites the potential for rebellion, discovering that her own strength may hold the key to escape.
