A Fine Balance

Set in 1975 India, this dramatization of Rohinton Mistry's Booker Prize-nominated novel follows Dina Dilal, a Parsi widow, who transforms her apartment into a sweatshop to escape her abusive brother. As her eyesight deteriorates, she hires two tailors, Ishvar and Om, who have fled from caste violence, and takes in a reluctant student, Maneck. Despite their initial wariness, the four strangers forge a deep bond, only to find their lives disrupted by the political turmoil and civil liberties suppression during Indira Gandhi's 'Emergency' measures.
