Bubsie and the Boys

In winter 1925, 21-year-olds Nevill Westwood and Greg Davies embarked on an unprecedented road trip from Perth to Darwin in a modest second-hand Citroen named “Bubsie.” Facing rugged, unmapped cattle station tracks and relying on the kindness of local ranchers for sustenance and fuel, their adventure took an unexpected twist when a car dealer suggested they continue to the east coast instead of returning by steamship. This journey not only marked the first car drive around Australia but also cemented "Bubsie" as a symbol of Australian motoring history, now displayed at the National Museum.
