Pastorals

In "Pastorals," written by Alexander Pope at the age of 16, the young poet explores the intricate relationship between art and nature through a cycle of stylized poems representing the seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Initially completed in 1704, these works were later included in Jacob Tonson's 1709 Poetical Miscellanies and draw inspiration from Virgil’s Eclogues, showcasing Pope's early literary prowess.
