In the 1970s at Dewing College in Massachusetts, Frederica Hatch, the unofficial mascot and daughter of campus dorm parent professors, enjoys an idyllic youth. However, as she enters her teenage years, Frederica finds herself frustrated by her overly fair-minded parents. The arrival of a new dorm parent, glamorous Laura Lee French—who happens to be her father’s former wife—forces Frederica to reconsider the complexities of her family and life within the seemingly perfect environment of the college.
