In 1875, recent widow Cora Miller relocates to St. Augustine with her young daughter, Emily, aiming to establish herself as a single mother through her millinery shop. As she captures the attention of wealthy tourists and courtly socialites, she also attracts the interest of the affluent Sterling Cunningham and the more aloof Daniel Worthington, who is preoccupied with the plight of Indian captives.
