In a harsh desert land, the Nezel are refugee servants fighting for recognition while barely surviving. Friends Almond and Quartz stumble upon a nefarious scheme that endangers their people and join forces with Finch, the rightful heir to the throne, in a race against time to protect their culture. As the Time of Naming approaches, Almond grapples with the weighty decision of choosing a gender and a new name, while they all strive to assert their identities amid growing peril.
