Notes from an Island

In "Notes from an Island," renowned artist and writer Tove Jansson offers a deeply personal nature journal, enriched by sketches from her romantic partner, Tuulikki “Tooti” Pietilä. Set against the backdrop of their cabin on Klovharun island during the autumn of 1963, this work intertwines Jansson’s signature prose with Tooti’s evocative illustrations, reflecting the couple's thirty summers spent together in solitude and creative exploration. The journal serves as a meditative tribute to their love and the island’s unique ecology, inviting readers to discover the beauty of living harmoniously with nature.
