Patriots from the Barrio

In Patriots from the Barrio, Dave Gutierrez embarks on a poignant journey to uncover the legacy of his uncle Ramon, a Silver Star and three-time Purple Heart recipient who served in the only all-Mexican American unit within the U.S. Army during World War II. Through detailed research and personal stories, Gutierrez reveals the experiences of Company E of the 141st Infantry, which faced harrowing challenges in Italy, including the infamous crossing of the Rapido River.
