Aleen MacRae grapples with the effects of the sea on her family and her engagement while resisting the magnetic pull of a man she encounters both awake and in dreams. Braden Williams, a treasure hunter seeking buried pirate loot in Rhode Island, connects with Aleen through genealogy research and introduces her to the world of sailing.
