Husband-and-wife treasure hunters Sam and Remi Fargo stumble upon a relic from a long-lost Confederate ship while scuba diving in Tanzania, igniting a thrilling chase for a mystery entwined with Aztec history. As they pursue the artifact, they soon realize they are not the only ones after it; Mexico's ultranationalist Mexica Tenochca party seeks the relic for its potential to unravel their power.
