Castle Wetterstein

"Castle Wetterstein," a play by Frank Wedekind, delves into the tumultuous relationship between primal sexual desires and societal norms. Set against the backdrop of a bourgeois family, the story follows Effie, a captivating young woman caught in a complex web of love and power, as she navigates the consequences of her allure. As she deals with the man responsible for her father's death, Effie's journey mirrors Wedekind's exploration of female empowerment and the tragic outcomes that often accompany it, drawing parallels to his famed character Lulu.
