After retiring in 1896, he applied logical reasoning to explore the principles of cause and effect, leading to notable works such as the "Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science," praised by philosopher William James. Geneviève Behrend, his only personal student, pursued her study of Troward's teachings on Mental Science after discovering his lectures and was inspired to manifest the means to travel and learn directly from him.
