On a scorching July morning on Sandhamn, a tranquil Swedish vacation island, a man walking his dog stumbles upon a body ensnared in a fishing net, identified as missing bachelor Krister Berggren. Detective Thomas Andreasson, the first to respond, soon discovers a second victim—Berggren's cousin found at a local bed-and-breakfast—turning what seemed like an accident into a darker mystery.
