The Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides

In 1773, James Boswell invited his renowned friend Samuel Johnson on an adventurous tour through the highlands and western islands of Scotland. The journey began in Edinburgh and meandered along the eastern and northeastern coasts, with notable stops in St Andrews, Aberdeen, and Inverness, before reaching the scenic Hebrides, including the islands of Skye, Coll, and Mull. After visiting Boswell's estate at Auchinleck, they returned to Edinburgh, culminating in Johnson's later publication, "Journey to the Western Islands of Scotland," released in January 1775.
