Finding Langston

After the death of his mother in 1946, 11-year-old Langston and his father move from rural Alabama to Chicago as part of the Great Migration. Adjusting to life in a small apartment and facing bullying at school, Langston finds solace in the local public library, which is inclusive unlike the whites-only library he left behind. There, he discovers the work of Langston Hughes, a poet who inspired his mother, deepening his connection to his family and his own identity.
