In a peaceful fishing village in Northern Iceland, local policeman Ari Thór Arason grapples with his tumultuous past and strained relationships when the murder of a fellow officer shatters the community's tranquility. As winter looms, Ari Thór must uncover a web of local politics, a compromised mayor, and secrets from a psychiatric ward in Reykjavík. Complicating matters further, a mysterious young woman arrives, hiding from an unknown threat, and intertwining their fates with dark events from the past that could imperil them all.
