Bobby, taking a year off from grad school, immerses himself in the harrowing clean-up efforts at ground zero following 9/11, confronting the haunting remnants of shattered lives amid smoke and ash. As he grapples with his trauma through the collection of items from the wreckage, he struggles to communicate his experiences until he encounters a mysterious woman at a bar who is also on a quest for closure.
