The Walworth Beauty

In "The Walworth Beauty," celebrated author Michèle Roberts weaves together the lives of women in Victorian London and a modern-day academic's journey of self-discovery. As Madeleine relocates to Apricot Place after losing her job, she feels the weight of the past around her, while Joseph Benson navigates the morally complex world of Victorian society, researching the lives of prostitutes. Their stories intertwine, creating a rich tapestry of desire, exploitation, and the search for connection, all rendered in evocative prose that brings both eras to life.
