The Cat's Table

In the early 1950s, an eleven-year-old boy embarks on a ship traveling from Colombo to England, where he finds himself seated at the “cat’s table” among a mix of intriguing adults and two fellow boys, Cassius and Ramadhin. As they sail across the Indian Ocean and through the Mediterranean, the trio experiences a series of adventures and encounters that broaden their horizons, including music, literature, and the complexities of first love. Amid these discoveries, they become drawn to a mysterious prisoner onboard, whose fate adds an air of intrigue to their voyage.
