A Different Flesh

This novel by Harry Turtledove explores an alternate America where prehistoric humans, specifically Homo erectus, survived and evolved alongside giant megafauna, shaping a unique 300-year history. The story delves into a world where European settlers encounter these primitive creatures and establish a hierarchical society, raising questions about humanity and civilization. Through various historical episodes, the book offers a thought-provoking look at what it means to be human in a radically different world.
