The Emperor of Shoes

In "The Emperor of Shoes," debut author Tziporah Cohen crafts a compelling tale featuring Alex Cohen, a twenty-six-year-old Jewish expatriate navigating the complexities of his family's shoe factory in southern China. As he grapples with the exploitation of workers and the morally dubious practices of his father, Alex’s perspective shifts when he meets Ivy, a seamstress and pro-democracy activist. This engaging story explores themes of idealism, ambition, and cultural revolution, set against a backdrop of significant social change.
