Seventeen-year-old Merry finds herself entangled in a battle against shape-changing creatures that are stealing memories from the people of Woodshire, all while grappling with her failures to gain admission to the University of Magecraft. When an outlaw mage mistakenly sees her as a damsel in distress, she reluctantly allies with him to confront the threats to her father's memories. As dangers blur the lines between friend and foe, Merry must navigate trust and sacrifice to determine if reclaiming lost memories is worth jeopardizing her own aspirations as a mage.
