Richard Edward Connell Jr. was an American writer born on October 17, 1893, in Poughkeepsie, New York. He began his career as a journalist and attended Georgetown College and Harvard University, where he edited campus publications. After serving in the US Army during World War I, he turned to writing short stories, gaining acclaim for over 300 works, including the famous macabre tale "The Most Dangerous Game." Connell was also nominated for an Academy Award in 1942 for his original story in the film "Meet John Doe." He passed away on November 22, 1949, in Beverly Hills, California.
