Companion Piece

In "Companion Piece," award-winning author Ali Smith weaves a thought-provoking narrative that connects a modern woman's phone call from a distant college friend to the life of a young blacksmith from nearly 500 years ago. Set against the backdrop of the Black Plague, the story explores themes of loneliness, refuge, and freedom, inviting readers to reflect on our present and the echoes of history. With her signature style, Smith crafts a kaleidoscopic tale that challenges our understanding of time and human experience.
