The Three Palaces

Richard Garnett C.B., born on February 27, 1835, was an esteemed British librarian who joined the British Museum in 1851 and rose to high-ranking positions until his retirement in 1899. A devoted family man, he married Olivia Narney Singleton in 1863 and fathered six children, all while translating works from multiple languages and authoring poetry, short stories, and biographies. His contributions to literature were recognized with his election to the American Philosophical Society in 1901. Garnett passed away on April 13, 1906, at the age of 71.
