Madam Lucifer

Richard Garnett C.B., born on February 27, 1835, in Bloomsbury, joined the British Museum as an assistant librarian in 1851 and advanced to high-ranking positions until his retirement in 1899. He married Olivia Narney Singleton in 1863 and fathered six children while translating numerous literary works and authoring volumes of verse, short stories, and biographies. In 1901, he was elected to the American Philosophical Society and passed away on April 13, 1906, at the age of 71.
