The Demon Pope

Richard Garnett C.B., born on February 27, 1835, was a distinguished librarian at the British Museum who ascended to high-ranking positions until his retirement in 1899. Balancing his professional life with family responsibilities, he was married to Olivia Narney Singleton and had six children. Garnett made significant contributions as a translator of works in various languages and as an author of poetry, short stories, and biographies. He was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 1901 and passed away on April 13, 1906, at the age of 71.
