Flatland

In "Flatland," originally published in 1884, a humble square narrates his experiences in a two-dimensional world as he interacts with a being from the three-dimensional Spaceland. Through dry wit and imaginative storytelling, Edwin Abbott Abbott constructs a fantasy realm that explores themes of psychology, politics, and social structure, all grounded in geometry. This tale serves as a satirical commentary on social discourse, revealing insights that continue to resonate in contemporary society.
