In the aftermath of the American Civil War, former slave Marcus Riggs finds himself trapped in a British harbor, beneath the looming threat of alien invaders intent on enslaving humanity. With the invaders now departed, a power struggle erupts as humanity attempts to rebuild and reclaim its future. However, lingering doubts remain about whether the aliens have truly vanished for good.
