Esperanza Rising

Esperanza and her mother flee to Aguascalientes, Mexico, and find themselves in a California farm labor camp, far removed from their previous life of luxury at Rancho de las Rosas. As they navigate the challenges of hard work, economic turmoil during the Great Depression, and acceptance within their community, Esperanza faces a turning point when her mother falls ill and a strike for better conditions arises. Through these hardships, Esperanza must learn to let go of her past and embrace a future filled with the values of family and community.
