Barcus, an ordinary worker, finds himself unexpectedly stranded on a remote planet after his ship, the Ventura, is destroyed by an automated defense system. As he battles to survive and uncover the truth behind the murder of his crewmates, he grapples with his growing despair and rage. Assisted by Em, an AI in an all-terrain vehicle, Barcus becomes entangled in a planetary genocide, forcing him to confront his own sense of morality and the fate of the local population.
