Poke Rafferty, an American expat in Bangkok, is building a new life with Rose, his future bride, and Miaow, a streetwise girl he hopes to adopt. Just as his world begins to stabilize, he gets drawn into a series of challenges when he helps a troubled friend of Miaow and a distraught Australian woman, while also seeking a blackmailing thief.
