In 1944 southern France, Captain Billy Boyle is tasked with protecting a Royal Navy Commander while working alongside French Resistance fighters. As he delves into a dangerous web of betrayal and political intrigue involving Vichy officials and rival Resistance factions, he encounters unexpected challenges, including the return of his wartime lover, Diana Seaton. Amidst a backdrop of sacrifice and mistrust, Billy also seeks a witness linked to a deadly explosion and the heroic 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most decorated unit in US Army history. With danger lurking at every turn, his mission becomes a perilous journey of loyalty and deception.
