The Enchiridion & Discourses

The Enchiridion is a notable manual of ethical guidance by Stoic philosopher Epictetus, written in the second century and rooted in his experiences as a former slave in the Roman Empire. Although Epictetus did not compose any texts himself, his pupil Arrian compiled this concise collection of Stoic principles, which offers insights on living a virtuous life. Presented in the translation by Thomas W. Higginson, The Enchiridion has remained influential alongside other significant works, such as Marcus Aurelius's Meditations.
