Eric McCaffrey is thrust into a startling reality when the developers of Battlegrounds Online arrive at his home, revealing the game’s surprising physical effects on him. Designed as a military training simulator, the game has altered Eric's life dramatically, especially as his in-game avatar, Zag, takes on more responsibility despite a previous failure. As Eric faces various operations in the game, he discovers that the boundaries between virtual and real life are blurring, endangering not only his own existence but possibly more.
