In a dark, gritty world beneath the frozen City of Glass, a powerful machine called the Heart of the City emits icefire, feared by the ruling Eagle Knights. As they hunt down the Imperfects—those who can wield this power—Tandor, the grandson of a deposed king, seeks to restore his family's legacy by harnessing it, believing he needs an army of Imperfect servitors.
