On the planet Pyrrus, human colonists are engaged in a long-standing battle with rapidly evolving native life forms that adapt to their tactics and technology. The natives returning from off-planet journeys must be transported in protective armor canisters to avoid the ever-present dangers. "The Ethical Engineer" is the second installment in the Deathworld series, originally published as a two-part serial in 1963.
