Kicking Tongues

Karen King-Aribisala's adaptation of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales transports the classic stories to modern-day Nigeria, following a diverse group of travelers on a bus from Lagos to Abuja. Led by an enigmatic hostess known as ‘The Black Lady The,’ the passengers share a variety of stories that reflect their frustrations with Nigeria’s political landscape. This vibrant retelling combines poetry, prose, and vivid imagery to create a lively and uniquely African narrative.
