The Decameron: The Complete Hundred Tales (Annotated)

This edition features the complete, unabridged text of Giovanni Boccaccio's The Decameron, a collection of one hundred stories framed by ten young Florentines fleeing the Black Death in 1348. While the plague frames the narrative, references to pestilence are rare once storytelling begins, and the stories explore a wide range of themes beyond the epidemic. Accompanied by a critical afterword analyzing the plague's subtle presence throughout, as well as a biography of Boccaccio, this edition offers a comprehensive and historical perspective on this enduring work.
