The Pride Epidemic

In The Narcissism Economy, Kevin Whitworth explores how pride, once viewed as a dangerous vice, has become central to modern society, fueling industries of self-promotion, social validation, and identity politics. Through cultural analysis and psychological insight, the book examines the rise of narcissistic culture, the motives behind validation addiction, and the societal impacts of ego-driven behaviors. It suggests that humility may be the key virtue to address the widespread influence of ego in shaping contemporary life and culture.
